Leveraging Multimodal Data and AI for Social Good

Abstract

Multimedia is increasingly becoming the "biggest big data" as the most important and valuable source for insights and information. It covers from everyone's experiences to everything happening in the world. Multimedia big data is spurring tremendous amounts of research and development of related technologies and applications (e.g., education, healthcare, e-commerce, banking, governance, entertainment, etc.). To this end, we leverage the advances in AI and multimodal data to study, analyze, and build different multimedia systems for society. To name a few, some of our recent work focuses on doing lipreading, suicidal ideation detection, automatic scoring, etc. These works have been published at top conferences like AAAI, WWW, EMNLP, etc.
